The president names six new governors and rearranges three others.

According to Rashtrapati Bhavan, President Droupadi Murmu has named former Union minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar as the next governor of Jharkhand, succeeding CP Radhakrishnan, who will become the new governor of Maharashtra, in a major rearrangement and appointment of governors. Later in the year, assembly elections are planned for Jharkhand, Maharashtra, and Haryana.

after midnight on Saturday, the president also named Gulab Chand Kataria the new governor of Punjab, succeeding Banwarilal Purohit, who had resigned earlier this year citing personal reasons. Lakshman Prasad Acharya was named the new governor of Assam, along with the additional responsibility of Manipur.

"These appointments will take effect from the dates they will assume charge of their respective offices."
As the governor of Assam, Acharya has taken over from Kataria, who was also named the administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh. The announcement said, "Lakshman Prasad Acharya, Governor of Sikkim, appointed as Governor of Assam and has additionally been given charge of the Governor of Manipur."
Anusuiya Uikye has been the governor of Manipur since February of last year.
